Week 1 of 12 · Discover
Professional identity & orientation
Milestone: Professional identity statement. Format: Live session + digital setup lab + written identity statement.
Persona side project — your client list
The Accountant Persona is not a single Friday in Week 11. Starting next week you open a Client Roster and keep it through graduation. This week you only prepare: you will not fake a book of business. Warm names (people you already know) are enough to begin.
Learning objectives
- State the Empower Her promise: learn the profession, experience the profession, build the business, become the professional.
- Name program standards for attendance, punctuality, confidentiality, and respectful conduct.
- Complete digital setup: email, file folders, password hygiene, and a working calendar.
- Write a professional identity statement in first person, present tense.
Core instruction
Who you are becoming
This week is not icebreakers. It is the first practice of professional identity. You will learn how the cohort works, what “ready” looks like, and how confidentiality protects clients and classmates. You will also complete vehicle-safety orientation if you will later participate in Earn the Experience travel. Driving is never required; equivalent learning is always available.
Standards you will be held to
- Arrive on time, prepared, with materials you can find in under a minute.
- Do not discuss classmate or simulated-client information outside the room.
- Professional appearance means context, cleanliness, and client-ready presence—not luxury brands.
- Ask for help early. Silence is not a professionalism skill.
Digital setup checklist
- A dedicated program email signature with your name and “Empower Her participant.”
- Folders: 01-Identity, 02-Ledger, 03-APAR, 04-Close, 05-Statements, 06-Clients, 07-Tax, 08-Firm, 09-Pricing, 10-Pipeline, 11-Persona, 12-Launch.
- A calendar with class, study blocks, and a weekly “file review” appointment with yourself.
This week’s work
- Draft a 150–250 word professional identity statement: who you serve, how you work, what you will not compromise (confidentiality, punctuality, honesty).
- Sign the orientation and (if applicable) vehicle-conduct acknowledgment.
- Submit a screenshot or photo of your folder structure and calendar blocks.
How we know you are ready
The identity statement is specific, written as a professional already in motion (not a wish list), and names at least one boundary you will keep.
